Photo Guidelines for Actors/Models

Although we are happy to accept your selfies and snapshots, you will get more attention if you invest in professional headshots and bodyshots.

The most important thing to remember is that we need to see who you are. Always look your best, but avoid Photoshop, blurry photos, or overly artistic photos.

Headshots

Your “Primary Photo” should be a GOOD HEADSHOT. Traditionally, headshots were usually black and white photographs taken by photographers specializing in headshots. We appreciate and encourage color headshots from any reputable portrait photographer. Here are a few guidelines:

  • Your face should be front and center. Keep your face centered in the shot.  Please no artistic off-center shots.  This is so we can see what you look like.
  • Keep your headshot current. If you change appearance in any measurable way, return to the database and update your headshot.  This is especially important for children, whose appearance can change rapidly. We recommend an annual update for all talent under 18.
  • Men: If you typically sport facial hair, it is advisable to provide headshots both with and without your beard or mustache. Many parts will require you to shave, and we’d like to see how you will look.
  • Women: If you change hairstyles frequently, please update your photos in your profile.  When casting, we need to know what our hair and makeup departments will have to work with.
  • Smile: At least one photo that you upload should show us your teeth.
Bodyshots

Bodyshots that show us your general physique are very important. Again, remember, we are looking for a realistic presentation of who you are. Don’t try to suck in your gut or make yourself look taller or shorter. All types are needed. If you can upload shots of yourself in different styles of dress, so much the better. Artistically posed shots are fine, but do include at least one of you simply standing normally while facing the camera.
